Gasification is the process by which carbon products such as coal, oil biomass are segregated to carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Moreover the process of converting the organic matters into fuel is known as gasification. By reacting the solid waste at high temperature and in a controlled environment in the presence of oxygen generates syngas. Syngas is a type of fuel. Syngas is an effective fuel. Syngas can be directly combusted into engines in order to produce methanol and hydrogen. Another chemical reaction named as Fischer–Tropsch process converts syngas into liquid carbon.this is an important chemical reaction and it is considered to produce the oil substitute sucgh as synthetic gas fuel.the process of gasification has helped the industry to utilze organic material to generate electricty.generating electricty through the process of gasification helps the industrial plants to cut their production cost.gasification is a chemical reaction which takes place at a temperature of 700 degress celcius.gasification was originally developed to produce elctricty for small household chores such as for cooking and lighting.there are four types of gasifiers.
The counter current fixed bed,co current fixed bed,fuelidized bed reactora and entrained flow gasifier.the counter fixed bed consists of a fixed amount of carbon materials which allows the steam or oxygen to pass through.the co current fixed bed is exactly like counter current fixed bed except that for the current flows in configuration with the gasification agents.in the fuelidized bed reactor converts the fuel to liquid state.in entrained flow gasifier the solidor atomized fuel is converted to fuel in a co current flow. Gasifiaction is popular to be used in industry. In europe tar free syngas is genrated from the wood which are burnt in the generators to produce heat.industry at large uses gasification process to generate electricty by burning organic materials as coal.the recent development in the gasification process has drawn the attraction of industry to use plastic as a combustaion materail.the syngas generated in the process of gasification is used to produce electricty and effective mechanical power.as compared to the solid fuels, gasous fuel is believed to be more environment friendly.syngas can be effectively used in gas turbines, in gas engines and in fuel cells.the process of gasification does not emit greenhouse gases in the air.
