My article would give you a brief description of how you can make solar cells at home and the various purposes it serves. For the purpose of making solar cell you need a glass slide which must be coated with titanium oxide on both sides. This glass slide is then naturally dyed with the help of fresh black berries and some pomegranates seeds. The slide can not be removed unless the glass slide is properly colored from the both sides. After wards the slide is dried at room temperature for further process. Just like ordinary cells the solar cell also needs positive and negative plates to function. The second step in the cell making is the preparation of counter electrode. The positive electrode is known as counter electrode. Counter electrode is prepared from the SnO
coated glass slide. Ohm meter is usually used to check the conductive nature of the slide.
The side of the slide which is not conductive is marked with a positive sign “+”. Color the conductive side of the slide with lead pencil. Third step is to dip the slide in iodide solution. This solution will add the electrolyte factor to the solar cell. This process will complete the circuit of the solar cell and also helps to strengthen the color. The fourth step is to give the finishing touch to the battery. Place the cell on the table so that the color side faces you. Further drop the iodine drops on the front conductive side of the plate. Here it must be noted that the conductive side of the plate is in front of you. Expose the plates so that the edges of each plate face the sun. Identify the negative and the positive electrode so that you can test your cell. Attach the electrodes with the help of clips. When this cell is exposed to the full sunlight during the day it can generate almost an output of 0.43V to 1mA/cm2.Solar cells can be a really beneficial alternative for fossil fuels. Due to the research and developments in this field solar cells are much more economical now. Earlier the solar cells were expensive costing almost $6 per watt. Scientist have device a way to make this energy generation process much affordable. Plastic based solar cells are cheap and effective way to get energy. They are easy to make just like the paper printing technique.
Solar cells are light and flexible. These solar batteries have replaced other expensive energy devices like lead storage batteries and early solar panels. These solar cells are easy to build and in few minutes a whole field of solar cells can be created. Spread a roll of plastic solar cells on a farm you can have an organized solar farm prepared in few minutes. In the current era when energy resources are scarce and population has doubled such cheap energy sources as solar cells can lower the extreme dependence on oil and gas alone. The solar cells can prove really beneficial for the underdeveloped countries because of its lower cost and efficient use. The subcontinent countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh where the temperature rises to 50 degrees in the summer can save this solar energy to overcome their potential energy crises.
